Update on the Audit & Risk Committee meeting
The Audit & Risk Committee recently met in its restructured format, which is a step in our efforts to improve our governance framework. During this meeting, we reviewed the Academy Trust Handbook checklist, focusing on both mandatory requirements and recommended practises. This examination ensures that our Trust meets the standards set by regulatory bodies.
In our efforts to maintain a safe learning environment, we received updates on the recent health and safety audits. The committee also reviewed an overview of the Every system, which is integral to our risk management processes. We noted that one of our schools is facing challenges in keeping the system current. We discussed the options that the central team are exploring to offer support to ensure that all our institutions uphold high standards of safety and compliance.
The committee conducted a thorough review of the Risk Register, particularly focusing on the top five risks facing our Trust. We are working to address associated risks and to implement consistent procedures across all our schools. This approach reflects our commitment to providing not only education but also care for every child in our Trust.
I am pleased to report on the outcomes of our internal scrutiny deep dive reports. These assessments have provided reassurance regarding the Trust's approach to safeguarding and the maintenance of the Single Central Record. The results confirm that our Trust takes effective and Substantial action in these critical areas, reinforcing our aim to create a safe educational environment.
Lastly, our Trustees discussed their responsibilities in completing the School Resource Management Self-Assessment Checklist (SRMSAC). This exercise is not just a compliance requirement but also an opportunity for reflection and strategic planning. The Trustees’ commitment to this process demonstrates their focus on ensuring the effective use of resources across our Trust.
As we move forward, these initiatives and discussions will continue to shape our policies and practises. They represent our dedication to fostering an educational environment that is academically robust, safe, well-governed, and responsive to the needs of our community.
Your continued support and engagement are invaluable as we work together to provide the best possible educational experience for our pupils. We are committed to transparency and will keep you informed of significant developments within our Trust.
